EN 9 sheets and plates are made from medium carbon steel, typically containing 0.50–0.60% carbon and 0.50–0.80% manganese, offering an excellent balance of strength and wear resistance. These plates exhibit a tensile strength between 600–800 MPa, with good hardness and moderate ductility. EN 9 steel responds well to heat treatment processes such as hardening and tempering, which enhance its mechanical properties. It also offers good machinability when normalized or annealed.
